Donald Trump is an American politician and businessman who served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. Prior to his presidency, he was a real estate developer and television personality. He was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York. Trump became involved in politics after he vocally supported various conspiracy theories, such as the "birther" conspiracy theory, which claimed that former President Barack Obama was not a natural-born citizen of the United States. He ran for president as a Republican in 2016 and was inaugurated on January 20, 2017. During his presidency, Trump pursued a number of controversial policies, including a travel ban on citizens from several Muslim-majority countries, the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, and the impeachment and subsequent acquittal on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. He was defeated in the 2020 presidential election by Joe Biden and left office on January 20, 2021.
